The total amount of CO2 produced by your household is 4.5 tonnes per year

You can offset these emissions by dedicating 6 trees

Well, as long as the tree is replaced, its basically carbon neutral... isn't it?

There may however be non-biofuel inputs, such as transport, tools, irrigation and fertiliser (?) to be considered - but those are likely small and highly variable...

Took a wild guess on my expected electricity usage and came out at 1.8 tonnes.

What do you reckon the usage for a house with low voltage lights, gas cooker (electric oven) and wood burning Ch would be?

dont know but my cooking , hot water ,washing machine and heating light and electrical goods came out at 0.9 of a ton for two people .so im ahead of myself in the tree planting ,thats a relief . no heating on yet either .im trying to visulise that much co2 as coke , it is under half what i used in a year on solid fuel in a terraced house for just heat and hot water for one person .good insulation , double glazing and heat sink floors and walls probably make more difference than owt .but with wood you grow some new and get carbon negative ,so its hard to tell .the hedge will cover it .
