I wish someone would tell cats in a way that gets through to them that they are lactose intolerant. Son was away for the weekend, so his in-laws had the cats. The Siamese apparently got its head into FILs yoghurt when he wasn't looking. Then yesterday, son had finished the spreadable butter and put the lid back on, but left it on the worktop. Next thing he knew the two cats, who are supposed to hate each other, both had their head in the empty butter container and were licking out the remains. The black furry one needed its face washed after that. Luckily it doesn't mind water.

delicat tums and unwise dining, normal for felines it is no consolation, the hound has taken a lifetime to learn to avoid wheat and dairy, but he still finds a steak pie crust(provided by jackdaws)irresistible

I've always wondered why domestic cats like fish so much - I mean it is not as though they swim by choice. My theory is that cats came here on ships - probably as ratters - and had to develop a taste for fish on the way.

some seem capable fishers the interweb thingy has lots of snaps of puss gloating with a very fresh fish it has caught some steal someone's lunch, some murder pets(or try to) and some catch wild fish

Son's furry cat doesn't mind water and will paddle quite happily. At their flat she would often sit on the bath and if someone went in there want them to turn the tap on so she could drink from it. For some reason she preferred that to her water fountain. Our cat hated water though and on one occasion when I tried to wash sump oil off his feet, he ran up my arm and took off from my back; claws out.

I spose giving fish to cats makes as much sense as giving them lamb or beef - unlikely to catch either of those.. or if they do you have bigger problems! they should make rat and mouse flavour cat food.

at least two had horse ambitions, one of them came home with complaints twice from incidents while the horse had a rider(including biting and scratching and clamering on a police horse in a way that included the rider as much as dobbin) and it often had horse hair stuck in its teeth, the other only got to the serious stalking stage as far as i know

I read somewhere that a cat actually killed a knight in armour by unseating him. Some can be really vicious. Sons furry one can turn into a furry puma if in a bad mood; growling and showing its teeth. Shame as it is lovely to stroke, but will only allow that on its own terms.

one of my best road kill spots was a quiet lane with a commuter in a volvo every morning cars are ace hunters, but they often do not eat what they kill

my car has accidentally caught a pheasant or two ... but I always bring them home for tea if that happens. my cat meanwhile has had grey squirrels, that's a bit exciting when he brings it in alive through the catflap- I didn't eat it... but the cat did. All but the tail.

I've never suspected my cat would hurt me, except the day we tried to drag him away from the rabbit haunches he was feasting on underneath one of our cars. Seemed to be quite enamored with the fruit of his hunting labor

Nicky, I have had a couple of pheasants, but one I thought I had killed moved when I prodded it. I was afraid I was going to have to put it out of its misery, but it took one look at me, decided it didn't like the look of me and ran squawking and flapping up the road, so I assumed it was only stunned.

Its amazing how cats can turn from a ball of soft fur to a tiger in a second if you do something to upset them isn't it. Presumably disturbing your cats at their hard earned feast was a serious upset Slim.
