I'm lucky enough to have just got rights to shoot over a field of stubble which I can see from the back of our house!

Spent an hour there this morning with the decoys out and got seven woodies, If i hadn't slept in until 8am I probably would have got more, but I'll try again this evening.

Only downside is that they don't leave stubble unploughed for long, so I've probably got a week on it at best.

I'll be a busy plucker today.

if i can give you one tip jonny .is just breast them out put loads of salt in the open chest and fold as if they are whole now take them out and use as decoys , i always do this to boost my attraction and since i started doing it at the behest of an old ( 76 ) pigeon shooter and it has worked every time a lot of birds are about ... they can be used time and time again just keep them smoothed down in tne box and just keep salting them on the flesh regs karl

Good advice thanks, I've seen it done with formaldyhide (sp) but never thought about salting.

I certainly replace decoys with shot birds as they are way more successful.

Seen that too, but I like to travel as light as possible - shell decoys, ammunition, some string all in a small box which serves as a seat. - Hide made from natural materials tied together or simply hide in a hedge

i use the spokes out of old bike wheels ,if you get a coat hanger in a combine you may get a bollocking for it where as a spoke is just flung through. for bouncers i use the fibre glas whips from filed marking .and araldite a coat hanger wire to them cut to form wing holders to hold the wings i use those little crocodle clips . my rotary decoy carriers i made myself using old windshield washer motors ,. boy did i get some looks from the scrappie for taking 30 out of cars , he only charged me £2 each i didnt tell him by the time id finished messing with them id be making £45 on each haha
