It looks lovely Simon but I will leave the more constructive criticism to others.

Hi Simon,

Congrats on your website.
My comments are as follows:

LOVE the piccie of the outside of your cottage. I get a sense of privacy and open country from the photograph. I like your banner as well and the wording on it.

Near the top of your page I would tell people clearly how many adults / children the accommodation can take. Looking solely at your home page i would assume two adults and a baby. it's only when I visit the prices pages that I see you can accommodate 5.

I would gently suggest that the photo of the bedroom could be better - it looks a little out of focus to me.

the kitchen photo is a little uninspiring; I might go for something that 'sells' more - maybe back to the outside for the seating area and views or a mention and photo of a lounge area instead?

I can see what you have gone for with the brick background, but I really don't like it - I feel hemmed in by it and I might suggest looking at creating a feeling of space, freedom, countryside, lazy holidays rather than army barracks.

Probably reading too much into it, but subliminal messages are what sells or not

I hope this is useful and you don't feel 'got at'

Is the banner an actual picture of your house and land?

Ok, now I'm *really* confused. I just hit on the 'self sufficiency in france' link and I saw a piccie of your house which then changed by itself to a page describing your holiday let and then changed, before I had chance to read it, to the 'why are we here' page.

Then again, it doesn't take much to confuse me LOL!

best of luck with everything........

Thanks MG

All comments taken on board and will be duly noted. I asked for criticism and I am happy that you have taken the time to oblige. The photos were done in a bit of a rush when decorating was completed. I will try to get some better ones tomorrow. The banner is our House (in the centre) and our land to the left. I see what you mean about the "barracks" I am rather attached to the stonewall as I have been using it for some time but as you pointed out it may well be time for a rethink.

Very much appreciated.

Simon

I think people might worry about a link saying:

"Our Commune"

OK, so the "bricks" have gone as has "our commune".

Will keep working on the rest.

look great but I didn't think it was very clear how many people could stay in the cottage. At first I thought just 2 adults and a baby but then another page said there was a sofa bed so it'd be fine for more

I would have to agree about the photos - so take some more time - and alter the angles a bit - they were a bit straight on in the bedroom and not clear what aspect you were selling int he kitchen. Useful space or cosy space you know the sort of thing.

Re: the guest bit - I went straight to add a message when I came on line but I had to log on - funny that - I might try it again in a minute.

Hawthorne doesn't have an e.
Commune still occurs on the price list page.
How about putting prices in Sterling as well as Euro, even if only approximate.

Bloody customers eh? I bet you'd have it all looking lovely if people didn't keep using it.
