Hi I've got a 100m long Laurel hedge and I would like to find a better way of using the cuttings after it's been trimmed back. I am thinking of getting a garden shredder so I can use it as mulch. Has anyone got experience of using a shredder with Laurel? I'm a bit unsure as the cuttings are green.

Thanks

Do you know what type of laurel it is? The cherry laurel (big, glossy lightish green leaves - prunus laurocerasus it would seem) contains something narsty in the leaves (cyanide I think?) and I'm fairly sure that burning it is bad for the lungs and shredding it might be something to reconsider with all the spray/droplets it might create?

Hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about will be along in a minute.
