I've been a really good girl today and tidied up the whole garden. What amazed me was the sheer numbers of ladybirds (the nice ones) that were sunbathing just about any place they could find. Did anyone else experience the same?

I almost got hit in the face by a ladybird flying past. We've seen quite a few and Bugs has rescued one from the pond. I'm hoping the cold snap has killed off quite a few pests this year.

I've reported them to the BBC (Springwatch)! Also the bumblebees, who seem particularly bumbly at the moment; one of those has been rescued from digging today! Visiting a friend, as well, there's a willow of some sort with flowers (are they catkins on willows?) outside their house; absolutely humming with bumbles, just a lovely sight and sound.

Oh I do hope so - last year I was confined to the house for two glorious weeks in september when I was on holiday, because the willow tree was infested with aphids, which attracted the wasps - You couldn't go out the back door in daylight. I thought we had a nest, but the council said no, 'some trees just attract them' and suggested citronella! If they'd known what it was, I'd have been out there with the fairy liquid - I only found because HDRA said they had the same problem in their willow tunnel.

I shall be keeping a very close eye on the buggers this year!
