Hagl, my cat, has just hijacked a significant proportion of a batch of plague rats I was making to sell, so I thought perhaps some of you other moggie owners might like the recipe.

Basically, these are catnip meeces with attitude. I make mine out of black linen, with woollen tails and leather ears and bead eyes to complement the re-enactment settings where I sell them, the main difference from traditional catnip meeces is that I use equal parts of valerian root and catnip when stuffing them. Talk about pharmaceuticals for felines, he's currently lying on his back with all four paws in the air dribbling and making little mewling noises. Utterly undignified, but hey, I've never yet met a cat who wasn't immediatley tanked after playing with one.

They do look rather special. Does the valerian root just relax Mr Kitty?

Its a unique combination, between the two herbs he's not sure whether he wants a snooze or to chase his tail, so he tries to do both simultaneously. If he was human he'd probably order pizza....

I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened this thread (Downsizer's equivalent to Typhoid Mary, perhaps ), but I love the rats. And it's good to see the market research that you put into your products!

Bitzy and Buttons Fiddlesticks have made a request for some on account of the squeaky thing someone caught today ( no one's owning up! ) has stopped working... and is unlikely to squeak again anytime soon.

Of course, a laid back cat catches fewer birds/squeaky things. Its therefore environmentally *essential* that you keep you cat slightly tipsy. [adopts comedy Guru pose] 'It is the Downsizer way to bring mellow harmony to all creatures'

Dogs are a lot easier - you just stop feeding them so much - I'm told it also works on children (eventually) but people called social workers get very upppity about it!

Looks like one happy cat, anyways!

Makes you sound like the Lichenstein farmers who complained at being stopped feeding their cattle hemp

apparently the cows are more happy and relaxed that way
