The rabbiting season is more or less amongst us.
There's still too much undergrowth about for comfortable ferreting but there will be plenty of 3/4 to full grown plump bunnies about.
Who are the bunny bashers out there ? and have you started yet ?

Weather and wife permitting I'll have my first forray out with the lamp this weekend !
Good hunting and good eating. I'm going to have a bash with the long net this winter as well.

The lamp being for your lurcher thats scared of the dark then??

Do the borders hunt? I think mine are too well fed on rats to rabbit - well stocked with rat bait but daren't put it out as dogs keep catching the rats ( and terriers eat the damn things......)

Haven't seen a rabbit but plenty of hares - are they mutually exclusive?

Rabbits and hares tend to live away from each other E in G.
I'll be lamping with a shotgun.

Been out a couple of times already, don't have a dog so just creep up on my favourite warrens and then wait for the roosting pigeons.

I only stop between June- Mid September, because there are to many holiday makers around.

I had some nice size Bunnies last week & some pidgeons that are so fat they need runways to take off

Going to plan another shoot for all that are interested ( and I will make sure they all don't go on holiday this time )

It's something I have thought about but have never done. I don't have a guna nd wouldn't know where to start in getting one. I have 2 dogs but they are pets, is it possible for them to be taught to hunt as well?, though I asssume they then wouldn't be as safe around small furry pets? think I'd like to go along with someone and see whats, what, if you see what I mean?

Pricey,

That post answers my P.M. nicely!!

Put me down on you invites list, if I may be so bold

Plus I should be able to deal with the lampshy ones......I don't use a lamp anymore....

Pete

P.S. the sooner a date is announced....the sooner I can stop Whitelegg2 from pre-booking....the diary is getting full already all the way up to Christmas

I thought I did.

But it looks like I didn't.

I certainly meant to.

I remember typing it.

I also remember being hassled off the P.C. by Whitelegg2 to help get Whitelegg's 3&4 to bed!

Must have deleted without sending.

Or there are darker forces at work

Pete

Hope that makes it clearer.

It's a shame you're so far away from Pricey, if there's any way you could make the trip, it's well worth it. We went down last time and it was really educational and great fun! The bunny stew was very good too We'll be up for it again Pricey, unless you have lots of people, and then we'll bow out and let others have a go.
