Great, Tahir - I think Jane is a useful contact for some members.

Just to keep everyone informed I have had an e-mail back from Jane Howarth - she has had a look at Downsizer.net and was very kind in her comments. She is grateful we are mentioning the work of her organisation, which is charitable.

She would like me to point out that the ex-battery hens that she rehomes are not to go on into a money-making project, i.e. re-sale. Like Alison says, these birds often go on to produce a good number of eggs but this, Jane says, is not guaranteed.

Another thing she asked me to mention is that she does have a number of co-ordinators throughout the country so you don't have to be based in her particular neck-of-the-woods to take on these birds. She has given me details of my local contact (which turns out to be in Lincs).

Alison, I did mention to Jane that it would be great to have an article from her and she has told me that she is not able to do this at present due to a rather important part of her work which she mentioned to me.

Anyway, hopefully we will be able to get one at a later date.

Sorry, I've gone on a bit - just wanted to keep everyone informed.

Hi Alison and Lloyd -

Just to let you know I spoke to my contact, Amanda, last night. Lovely lady - she has geese, hens, horses, sheep - the lot!!!!

She is due to carry out a rescue in 6 weeks and is sending me some useful information regarding fox-proofing an enclosure.

I really admire people like Jane and Amanda who are dedicated to help less fortunate creatures.

I'm like a kid at the moment, I'm so excited about getting 'my girls'.

Hey, Lloyd, you are becoming a bit of a show off, mate, with your avatars - who is your latest?
