thinking of trying snares myself.
dont like them but i reckon if i check them every few hours then that will reduce the suffering bit.
I hope it does anyway.
Mind you most rabbits around here are riddled with mixie poor things.

Once you get the hang ( sorry for the pun ) of setting snares, with rabbits a good percentage of the rabbits will be dead in the snare fairly quickly.

Its an art that I havent cared to practice for many years but if you are faced with literally hundreds of rabbits it can be a very effective way of controlling them.

if the snare is placed so as the head enters just before a hop along the game trail they often break their neck at the first moment .
get shown is better than books but there are plenty of books as well.
properly set "spring" snares are also a quick kill
beware for poor old puss please if the noose is hand high from the floor it is below pussies head and fairly safe (and that is bunnies head height when dipped for the next hop .
with lots a team effort with a long net will thin them .
i miss not having loads of bunnies locally but it is better for the allottment
