Sets go in very soon. Seeds need to be in NOW if not earlier in my opinion.

They are easy to grow and its good to be planting at this time of year

Same as others but they overwinter in the ground so are ready earlier in the season than traditional ones. They don't keep as well as standard onions but mine keep a couple of months usually. Sets are £3.40 per kg round here.

Go for it..............

Harvesting my Japanese onions is something I always look forward to, as it marks the start of the cropping year for me.

The longest I've ever stored Japanese onions was the end of November, if they haven't already been used up before then, but that was back in the days when I grew several beds of onions each year and over 400 garlic bulbs.... slightly less these days mind.

I reckon I'll be looking at something like 400 this year. Haven't got a bed ready for my Japanese onions though.

I've got my sets in already. about 50 sets for 90p from wilko.
I did 2 packs last year and there were way too many but all good and big. I bought my garlic in lidl last year and they all did well too.So well that im not going to put any in at all this year,we'll just use the last years supply.

Surely your peas will be nearly finished now? Or am I being too optimistic?
