Pleas, I beg of you, no more seed company links. I don't think I can cope with anything else, and another greenhouse is out of the question (or so I'm told!!!!)

As if I didn't have enough already I still visited Wilkinsons and came home with more..and a patio pear..and orange.Then Kitchen Garden had such a good seed deal on...then Ken Muir did,hence the three new apple trees..and as for the ebay bargains,I don't just need a spare garden I think I need a field
I lik ethe idea of a soft fruit plant either in greenhouse or garden. Outside my window now the mist is rolling over the fields towards th ehouse.....James Herbert style. EEEEEEK

In Essex? In the town? Or does the coast make a difference? It can get absolutely ******** freezing here from September to May, which is bizarre, apparently due to the height and the distance from the sea.
We have to bring ours in over winter. The only one we've had real success with was the lemon, and that was very successful (Four Seasons I think but would have to check); but last year's miserable weather combined with scale insect and greenfly inside set them back, so this year we have a grow light, although we don't turn it on every day or for long periods.
I would recommend a lemon (it's also possible to be self sufficient in lemons because you don't need that many!) if you really want citrus. And Read's does send out good plants well packaged, plus they are citrus colelction holders so I suppose should know their stuff.
