|
Surrey Heath Council is so flippin' s**t concerning their recycling policy, I'm about to write to my MP, and I was hoping people could let me know what types of recycling collection service your council offers for comparison?
I know Hampshire are particularly good, which is really annoying seen as the Surrey/Hants border is about 3 miles from us
We do have a recycling collection service, but they don't take glass or plastic, the rest has to be left out in plastic bags, basically paper and aluminium.
Ok, I'm sure that's better than some, at least we have some, but it's when they have the cheak of saying they're doing really well as far as recyling goes in their area.
Oh yeah, and they've started a garden waste scheme, which is to be run by Verdant and costs £50 a year and we have to buy a green bin. I know that the same deal costs £19 a year in Hants! |

I feel guilty responding to this. My council is Bexley. We have a big brown wheelie bin, provided at the councils expense for garden and food waste which is compostable. We have three boxes, also provided by the council one black for glass, on red for plastic bottles and aluminium, but not other types of plastic and the local recycle centre which levies a charge for nor borough residents take garden waste, wood, glass, stone and rubble, glasses, wellington boots/shoes, material, paper, metal, engine oil, books in specifically marked containers for recycling and bins for non recyclables. I reckon they are pretty good all in all. |

Bexley is a London Borough but I like to think of it as Kent as it was until for some reason it got caught in the London Catchment.
I forgot to say the third box is green and that is paper and card. The normal non recyclebles are collected weekly as is the compost bin. The paper is collected every other week as are the bottles/plastic on the weeks the paper is not collected, if you see what I mean. |
