very interested in this - however I would like to know how the current spread of myxomatosis is affecting your shooting - in november we came across a young rabbit that was obviously suffering from myxi - there was nothing we could do for it. It has put us off rabbit for the forseeable future.

Myxi... A good point. I haven't seen any on my two shoots since the summer. However whenever I do, I make sure Ideal with them, for their sakes... You see them running round the field, without a clue in the middle of the day!!! Easy prey for fox or crow.... Wouldn't eat one though. Pete

I think that the incidence rises and falls locally. There was quite a bit round here a couple of years ago, whereas I haven't seen any suffering bunnies recently. (And there are still plenty around.) ISTR that they're OK to eat, though I wouldn't particularly fancy it myself.

The rabbit population is at such great numbers that you shouldn't need to eat a diseased coney really, I believe they are fine to eat but quite often they're that sick there really isn't a lot of meat on them and it's not to hard to find a brace of healthy plump bunnies for the pot.
