I work with my site www.saltpepper.co.uk in firefox. Its a very basic OSCommerce site. I did a load of work on it before Christmas adding clickable navigation boxes to each side of the site.

When I view it in firefox, the boxes come up a nice Green that switches to orange as I highlight them. This is in line with the site scheme.

To my horror however when viewed via IE they are a nasty blue or purple, out of character with the site.

My webhost says "its every developers nightmare getting colours to match up in IE and firefox." In practice however what have I done wrong and whats the best way of righting it?

Its the old classic - IE automatically puts a border around images unless you specifically tell it not to - Its a real pain but easy to solve just add border="0" to the style class or the href around the images

Are you declaring the HTML DTD in your code? For example

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "https://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

The "align", "border", "hspace", and "vspace" attributes of the image element were deprecated in HTML 4.01 that may prevent IE6 from adding a border around an image.
