Sounds like fun, can I join in too?
I'll think about this weeks meal tomorrow.

Ditto things like wine and jams - the sugar won't be local.

Can easily be local here, what with the vast fields of East Anglian sugar beet.

True. but not here, with our little fields full of cows.

Anyway - we had a go and I started a new thread
here.

I discovered that breakfast here was accidentally local, so have posted that (but only by coincidence, as I usually have coffe and toast and jam, which wouldn't count!)

Silver spoon sugar is made in Peterborough from UK grown sugar beet - the packet says they heat greenhouses with the waste heat for tomaotes, too. That's 76 miles from here.

It's the spirit of it isn't it. And it raises these interesting questions.

so where does one stand on things like locally made cakes and other products. If I buy a pork pie for the kids lunch made by the local butcher is that against the rules?

Depends if the pork came from holland or not.

So I can use my beloved Calon Wen milk and butter after all

Isn't Calon Wen from Carmarthen?

But, shopping in Welshpool on Saturday, I did find butter from Whitchurch (cheese stall on the market) and milk from Wrexham (Tomlinson's Dairy - Derwas farm shop on the way home).

Picking up some layers pellets today made me think about this challenge. If people are trying to source things for themselves like cereal locally, e.g. flour, then any meat and dairy animals should also be fed on local feeds.

Not much luck sourcing local starchy things but I'll have a go at the challenge and try and track something suitable down.

Wel, wedi fflabergastio.

I've drawn a 50m radius on a map.

It reaches from Liverpool to Brecon and from well west of Aberystwyth to Cannock! !

I think you might have made a mistake.

Can we add wine to the allowed list? N, Ireland isn't exactly a haven of vinery excellence. Although there are a few very good micro breweries.

They had some lovely looking crabs in the fishmongers today. Would you like me to get some when you come?
