I've seen fires done like that. Start one on the top and it'll slowly burn down.

its a fire log...you put smouldering 'stuff' ( edited by offended 10 year old) in the gaps and watch it burn... twisted fire starter...(rave on)

... and very effective they are too. We came across someone who had made them for a wedding, they'd lined both sides of a path with them as lighting for the evening 'do'. Lovely idea EV
