interesting to see how many people are actuallylucky enough to have no mortgage what a thing that must be! no mortagage would allow me to go part time at work and give me time to do the things i want to whilst still earning enough money to do them what a thought

mind if I ask how you found it? - we're hopefully looking to move up thereish and I can only ever get the 'recently restored and refurbished by the present owners' claptrap from the estate agents!

We were Mega jammy, it was a family friend who's wife died about 10 years ago and who had no kids. He was 85, we used to help him look after the place, cut the grass, clip the hedges sort of thing, but he fell ill recently and was faced with going into a home, he offered to sell it too us for £20,000, it needs a lot of work but was still a bargain at that price. We refused at first telling him he would want it once he got better, but as it became obvious he wasn't getting better he pretty much said we could have it. So we decide that wasn't fair either, so we bought it off him. He died a month ago. Not too sure what he did with the money, he did mention his wifes sister. But he wanted it to go to someone who would look after it. We are getting quotes for work at the moment, it does have electric but no running water.

We have just left det 3 bed traditional old Irish country house on 1.5 acres see propertyfile.net search Houses for sale Co Kerry price 120,000 euros - Ballybeg, East Brosna, Kerry.... Now living in rented bungalow on 1.5 acres further 6 acres down road for horses. Waiting to buy 20 acres when above sells! Callie

Well, as I used to work for an estate agent I would have to say that Lundy and I live in a highly desirable area, occupying a 3 bedroom mid terraced property, with aspects to front and rear. The garden is in the process of being landscaped and we have additional land which supplies grazing for our horse. We have rented land for our poultry and small vegetable growing concern.

In other words we own a 3 bed terraced house, drive to the front, decent garden to back. Garden was a mess, but we are slowly giving it a makeover. Together with a friend we rent a nearby field and for our horses and have chickens on our allotment. One day, yep one day, I will get all of the allotment dug over

We moved from a 3 bed mill workers terrace with postage stamp backyard to a 3 bed semi with 110ft garden in October last year

The house needs quite alot of work on it including central heating and a kitchen extension - its only 10ft x 7 ft atm but it will be lovely when we've finished.

Long term plans like many on here is for land and farmhouse, ideally enough land to run a B&B with camping facilities similar to Alison's setup but obviously in Lancashire our main problem being that land with planning permission is extremely expensive around the Lune Valley so currently prohibitive to us unless we win the lottery or some unknown rich relative pops their clogs -neither of which is likely to happen!!!!

Thoroughly mortgaged two up two down & attic typical Northern end terrace in ex-small metal trades and farming village. Two 3'x5' vegetable patches, shed, lawn/wildflower meadow, three coal sheds and two privies (all falling down). Ancient woods on the doorstep, six pubs and 50 yards from the chippy.

Sounds ruddy good to me .... we will be over in September for a week or two. Can you cope with fam of five???
