Thanks Roisin, I picked a colour that I knew I liked anyway and did it in metalic thread so it looked all nice and sparkley so I didn't get fed up with it. Glad you liked it

I have just discovered this site:

https://www.dmc.com

which is the manufacturer for most of the embroidery threads and crossstitch bits you see all over the place. If you join their "club"* you can use free charts and outside of that there are various little bits on how to do cross stitch etc, as well as all the usual stuff about their products, actually I say usual quite often manufacturers don't bother giving details of their products on sites. Anyway, not perfect but free and might have some ideas for people.

There was also a link on it to a site https://lovequilts.org which collects together cross stitched squares, on a theme, to make individual quilts for very ill children. Even ol' Child-Hater here thinks that's a relatively nice use for the internet.

I'd forgotten about them! Haven't looked at that for years, there use to be a free pattern each month

Or... there's https://www.countyourchickens.co.uk/shop.html look under crafts and hobbies!

I've found a great needlework shop in Burford but last time I went there it took me an hour to choose something to do as there was such a vast range! ( and I wanted all of it!)

DON'T READ THHIS IF YOU DON'T LIKE BRAGGING:

I won first prize at the Llanfair Caereinion show for a sampler of the 23rd psalm that I cross-stitched some years ago. Woohoo! It has the text of the psalm and pictures of pigs, trees, birds... I'm rather pleased with myself. What do you mean, you guessed?!

I'll try, but it will entail photographing it, e-mailing the pic to Tahir and then him getting it online! I'll have a go...

Which paper? County Times? Needless to say, I haven't seen it! I've taken a pic, and am now looking for the lead to connect the camera to the computer...
