I only hate meerkats if they've got a fake Russian accent and a smoking jacket.

As with almost everything like this it boils down to economics (no, i'm not a marxist, honest).

Because of the way the whole economic system is skewed in favour of Big corporations people like me can't afford to buy local.

And please don't try telling me that you can buy cheaper locally than in the local T**co, because you can't - i know 'cos i'm tight as a gnats tadger, or something tighter!

Until we can find some way of altering the system, we ain't gonna get nowhere.

(checks English ...yup, no meerkats)

Ahh, yes, force majeure.
It looks that way to me too. Only question is the timescale.
Oh ... and how painful, and for whom!?

Putting 'dry cured bacon' into the Tesco price check search returned 200g packs of Edwards of Conwydry bacon (whatever and whoever that is) for £2.99.

So thats pennies shy of £15 per kg.

You really need to do your sums,
£2.99 for 200g equates to £14.93 k,thats Bacon,
My Dry Cured Bacon is £13.20k

The £15k you dug up is for a Whole Dry Cured Ham,totally different product, this can be hung up for months.

Open a packet of your Tesco Dry Cured, leave it in the fridge for over a week, and smell it,then come back with a reply.

Or, as I said, pennies shy of £15 per kg. And I quite agree, its most likely rubbish stuff.

I've never bought in to the idea that supermarket shopping makes economic sense. You find a few loss leaders and some low quality crud very cheap there, but for anything even vaguely equating to food its not a good way to shop.

My appologies Cab,
I thought you were referring to a post of mine, that i sent a Whole Ham up to Gretna Green on Friday,i`m not sure if i posted it here or on RC,i`m not with it today, hence my popping in and out,i`ve had Tendonitis for the past 3 weeks in my arm and shoulder, and its playing up big time today.

So my Dry Cured Bacon is cheaper than Tesco, and it will keep,
Yet no interest locally,

Do you think they don`t like my singing?

How are you marketing it?

And if its good, and will store well, why ain't you flogging it here too?

I hate the way you see bacon sold in supermarkets. Flat plastic tray, see through packaging showing you every wafer thin slice, usually with far too little fat and far too much water in it, with no information whatsoever about how the pig was raised or what the cure mix was.
