He cannot do short haul from West Mids 5hr round drive every day plus flights on top. OK Could go Long Haul but biiiiiiigggggg pay cut as he is a captain and would have to go back to a co pilot drop in half in monthly take home! Which means I would have to go to work to make up to the mortgage (we home educate so mmmm), but where extra is the money coming from to do the renavations???
Could move to LHR but cannot afford any land down there!!! If move to LHR he has to be within 30 mins drive, cannot rent too many animals!
Irony is is that there is no stipulation on how far you can live abroad as long as you can get to work. We have chosen either Bear River or Annapolis Royal. He gets free tickets and big discounts on other carriers... Options 1. Halifax direct Zoom, Air Canada etc
2. Halifax - JFK-LHR
3.Halifax-Boston-LHR
4.Halifax-Toronto-LHR
5.Halifax-Montreal-LHR
6. Catch ferry from Digby, Yarmouth to Maine or mainland and drive to airport if snow stopping Halifax flights.
It is a 4 -7 hr flight depending on which route.
He would leave the day before he needs to work on normal days which easily gets him a choice of flights and plenty of rest at LHR before he needs to work. Or in bad weather you can go out a couple of days before and get to UK and stay with his folks in Essex.
To be fair it is a lifestyle choice and you have to way up the options and ease of them. We get a lot more lifestyle choice in Canada with Steven earning in sterling, ok some days will be hard in winter but its the overall picture you have to look at and then in 5 yrs time he wants to go 75% at work which allows even more flexibility. It seems weird from the outside looking in but we have a good knowledge of the rostering system and once Steven is at work he will be away on a 10 day trip, day off in UK, state side and back, a 8 day trip and then 3 clear weeks off. BA roster days off down route so even if he was in the UK living I would not see him until he gets the long spell off.
Well if I am not going to see him might as well be somewhere relaxing, and he wants to swtich off when home and get away from the UK domestic and foreign affairs policy as we are sick of the rubbish you hear all the time.
We love Canada even if the exchange rate is against us compared to normal. |

Looking at 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, ensuite, 12 person sauna, jacuzzzi, message tables/ therapy room, 2 parlours, library, 1200ft sunroom that wraps around back of house, 10 horse double stall barn, carriage house, 6 acres, and river backing onto wooded area at the back of grounds. There are other rooms as well and a cupula. All for $450,000 or £207,000. Mmmmmm looking forward but does all depend on selling!  |
