Mum wants a hog roast for her birthday but there will only be 40 of us - my brother had one for his wedding and only half got eaten, it was lovely but such a waste- so does anyone know where we can get a small hog (and someone to cook it!)
Or any other suggestions - I offered a goat but not everyone was impressed!
Party is Sat 30th July in Colchester, Essex

Alternately you can also do lamb which would be smaller.

https://www.hogroasted.co.uk/ (chelmsford)

https://www.priorshallfarm.co.uk/prices.htm (dunmow)

...can do spit roast suckling pigs.

Nothing to stop you having the leftovers cold for a few days, or slicing them off straight into a mostly prepared casserole sauce, freezing at that stage, then finishing cooking through the sauce at reheating time. As long as you observe common sense hygiene rules leftover hogroast is perfectly useable

I should be able to find one on pre-loved for around £20

Try contacting your local abattoir. That where I got my suckling pig - and very nice it was too, though not really a suckling pig, more a smally.

All the best

I would do this but mum wants a company that can come and cook and serve it...

I have googled, thanks Mustang, but wanted to check if anyone here knew someone first
