If I search for "lemon" with "cakes" in the extra keyword option I get no results. Ditto "lemon" with "fusion" in the keyword option (though there are definitely recipes with lemon in them labelled "fusion"). I've tested a few combinations, but basically it seems that searches using any of the drop-down options (except null) fail (at least they do in FF and Safari on my Mac).

Don't use the extra boxes. Just put something in the first box, either lemon or cake, but not both. Or just fusion.

I had figured that out, but what's the point of having filters if they don't work?

I think that jema's gradually correcting things on the search. It needs people to point them out though.

They do work. Just one at a time. As to "why", ask the person who wrote the code (but maybe not this weekend as he's having his silver wedding)

equally you can search for "indian", or you can use the name of the person who entered it - Tahir in this case, or use one of the ingredients "gram". It does work - but you just have to pick one thing to search for.

That's a clear example, and I will look at it.

Each time something gets reported it gets looked at.

Obviously I don't know how the DS search facility is built and I appreciate that Jema does it all voluntarily, but if a search facility only works as long as you only use one search option then on-screen help should say so. IMO. Because if I'm offered four search fields I assume I can enter a value in any or all of them and get a valid result whatever values I put in. I don't know what tools are used to develop DS and I'm not experienced in internet applications, but testing each option in the drop downs can't be that difficult, surely?

Lemon and cakes does now work, but
Quote:
word.lemon
AND MATCH(text) AGAINST(' +lemon +7481b14989ab4298a3e0437d5b45b3b3 ' IN BOOLEAN MODE )

appears at the top of the screen, which looks a bit odd. Something like "x results found for lemon and cake" would be more meaningful.

What if someone gets really, really frustrated by it, chucks their monitor through the window and then when climbing out to get it back cuts their femoral artery and bleeds to death?

Then they will die, and I will feel very very bad.

Blimey - I thought I was good at the ridiculous-scenario "what if?", but that is truly masterful .
