Jeepers So how wide a cloth does it take?... go on explain how it works to my frazzled brain... do you feed the cloth through it or iss it automatic? how do you keep it flat? It looks a bit more technical than a pair of sharp scissors

That's not for the dressmaking, TG, it's for the craft-side of my business.

Whether cutting fabric or card, it's held in place on a tacky backing board (reusable). Guided by my computer.

Windy, I'm planning to make greetings cards etc with it primarily, but also want to dabble in things like fascinators, and can cut the stiffened fabric with it quickly and accurately.

The one I've ordered cuts up to 18" x 24", so quite big. Mostly, I'll be using it to do multiple cuts of smaller things in "one loading" so to speak.

I've ummed and aaahed about it for some time now, was going to go for a much cheaper machine ... but hubby persuaded me that I'd "outgrow" a cheaper machine, so it'd be a false economy. I really didn't want one that needed design cartridges as well, I wanted the freedom to "do my own thing".

will it cut very thin leather? If so, could I send you a sample to try out, one of these days I need to look at a way to improve the cutting of the little leather ears for the plague rats and possibly this is an option worth exploring

It should do. If you send a sample to Dawn at Black Cat, she'll be only to pleased to do a sample cut for you. That way, if it won't, it's her blade at risk, not mine and she won't charge for doing it.
