if you're offering discounts from rosewood for funding of jerseybeef, it's not exactly supprising that people are going to think the companies are linked.

They are linked, they're just not the same.

Yeah, you fool.

They're sister companies, both owned by an offshore holding company, set up in the Camans to provide an efficient model of profit smuggling.

It certainly works. The appropriate place would be Jersey though, surely?

That sounds like technical details that I don't need to know about.

Just to be clear - a lot of people think that Rosewood is JerseyBeef & vice versa.

Remind me, what was the deal with the crowdfunding?
Was it along the lines of pay £100 now and get 5% off all future orders?
Or am I thinking of something completely different?

£10 got £10 back
£25 got £35 worth of Jersey Beef (although an alternative reward had to be thought up when the Jersey beef ran out)
£40 got 5% off Rosewood produce for life
£80 got 10% off RW produce

Do you still want to offer that deal?

No, the caveat with that deal was that we had to get the whole amount or nothing, and the crowdfunding company wanted a wider range of rewards, so I offered the extra rewards as it also raised our profile.

This deal is aiming to buy equipment I need now to improve efficiency with the proceeds of that efficiency - if you get I what I mean? I also want to give the 'interest' to our supporters, rather than the bank.

But you don't need them to offer that deal.
You could sell vouchers, or certificates for the lifetime discounts.
They would make good gifts, especially if the certificates were something people would want to hang on a wall.

I think I'd have at least a couple...

TBH £80 for 10% was selling ourselves too cheap, it was ok for a limited time offer like the crowdfunding but if I were to offer that now it would have to be a lot more.

Yes, I thought so... though it depends who gets it: if I had one, you'd have a very good deal as I don't get to buy much meat, but a big family of rabid carnivores who keep throwing big dinner parties could cost you a packet.

I would suggest you make them a limited edition, and make sure you properly nail down the T&C's.

This really is a discussion for my other thread in business chat, but I can't think of T&Cs that would cover your 20-something paleo & 90 year, other than a BUPA health heck for every applicant.

Should we stop and adjourn?

It is the customer's problem if they are not getting good value out of it, your T&C mainly just needs to protect you from people taking the piss.

I've just added a direct payment link, for those who think this is worthwhile project, but don't want to be constrained by the futures scheme.

Not wanting to put a damper on the idea, but have you taken any legal advice?

This has to me the feel that it might be something that falls under some kind of financial or company regulations: it seems to be edging into a grey area.
If it is, and you don't comply, then you could land in deep cacky.

Having read the whole thread, I think you need to reconsider this point ^^.

Looks like your crowdfunding was a straight discount, whereas this proposal looks to have an investment type element.

At the very least you should run the details past a specialist.

Perhaps, although I don't know of any specialists in meat discounts, so it'd have to be a financial expert, at which point it would be more sensible to turn it into a money loan. It's probably better to just go to the banks.
