We have 4 compost heaps at present but with my progressing Muscular dystrophy and my wifes osteoarthritis we are struggling to turn them and need more compost. After 6 weeks of research and indicision we decided on the Echman 190l heavy duty (my arse ) tumbler cost £99.99 and ordered it on monday and it was delivered yesterday. When I opened it the first thing I saw was a huge crack down one side of the main barrel section that must have been packed like that. Is it me or am I behind times £99.99 is a lot of money and you would think that the supplier would have checked it before wasting delivery and collection?. Any how we have now ordered an Envirocycle composter and hope that it lives up to its claims as it collects a compost tea in its base and along with our comfrey tea barrel we should produce useable liquid feeds.

Be interested to hear how you go on with it as I've wondered about getting a compost tumbler sometime.

This might help. The picture doesn't match the text, but adds to the variety of options.

Update: We have now produced 2 lots of compost it has taken 5 weeks to produce each batch. The first batch was very wet so we emptied it onto our existing compost heap and we use it from there. This second batch is drier but with this one we have put alot more woody matter as per the instructions, we have a garden shredder and have chopped alot of stems and also carboard boxes a bit more work but good results. We fill it for 3 weeks then keep turning it for a further 2 weeks. One of the advantages of this model is the liquid compost tea collector in the base which has produced approx 10 litres each batch this has been used as we would our comfrey tea and really perks the plants up.
