Does anyone use it as an organic fertilizer?

We use fish blood and bone mixture as a top dressing in winter and spring.

Blood, fish and bone used to be used a lot. We had a dustbin full of it for sale at gardening club years ago.

Fish, Blood & Bone: it is very widely used in the UK, virtually all retailers of gardening sundries stock it, horticultural wholesalers sell it in 25 kilo bags. I use it as a top dressing and also to rejuvenate potting compost. It is considered to be a "balanced" fertiliser, with similar quantities of N, P and K.

Yes, brilliant stuff. I always dig in a good handful before planting. I also dig in the veg beds before planting veg out each year.

I've avoided using it as it's known to encourage foxes to dig and we had a problem with foxes digging up newly planted plants.

We are fortunate enough not to have that problem but a friend of ours has a slightly different problem. Her chickens have access to her garden and have dug up anything with fish, blood & bones in it. She has had to stop using it.

had a similar problem with cats. My brilliant seed bed made a perfect loo. Next time I made two seed beds. One with seeds in, and the other with F,B & B.
