that sounds fun!

Yes, good exercise too on the lathe I think. Just need to find somewhere to do some axe work without driving my neighbours mad with the noise now.

Watch your fingers on the lathe!! My OH gave his a trim two weeks ago and still can't work out what he did wrong!!!!!

Craftwise, I've got a whole heap of fleeces I need to do something with. Would be a shame to compost them!!

You can make silver armbands? Is hiberno scandinavian Viking invader/settler style? Any chance of a picture?

this type of pattern on approx 130gm bar is my intention

they were both adornment and currency, the marks indicate where to cut into "coinage" and produced in the viking trading areas based on dublin ,york etc

i will post photos of my attempts as they progress from metal to object

Astra, one advantage with the pole lathe is that if you stop pedalling it stops. That is why I like it, because I am completely in control. I have never used an electric lathe, but we have a treadle lathe to rebuild. That has a large flywheel which will make it a cross between the two.

As a fan of Bernard Cornwell's series of books about Uhtred, I think I understand about the silver armband's use as ready cash. I can already think of several other devotees who would love to own one of these. I look forward to the pictures. As you are making so many, would I be right in assuming they will be up for sale?

Lots of sewing. I want to sew a new quilt cover for my bed and do some decent sized pillows to lean against. I am also planning on making a cape and a nice fitted jacket for myself.

I also want to get back into painting.

I have a book to finish as well if only I could get the momentum to do so.
