many of us here do far better technically and artistically, even if it is through a window or papped with a phone etc

decent camera and glass etc but ......ummm

never mind, the gap in the market is always useful

i have seen loads of good snaps to learn from and some not so good as well, mine included.

ps some of the snaps countryfile has had submitted for their calendars have been outstanding

ed pps the G usually have ace ones:roll:

iNaturalists suggests it might be a potato mirid - looks very similar, I must admit.

thanks, i spose it could not find a potato so had a snack in the nasturtium instead.

cute wee thing, nice sheen and amazing eyes that really need a scanning electron microscope for a good snap

they probably do sell artboards as snoozys or some such nonsense, decent value kitchen units though

if i was going for the non natural look i might try for a recreation of victorian taxidermy tableau but with a live cast, mice in top hats and waistcoats playing snooker would be fun

if they needed the artboards to give enough light for a decent snap they need some of my style mylar panels, i have about 3 sqM so far but could do with as much again, i need glue and gaffer tape
they dont show in the snaps but they do help a lot a small strip of canyon, light is still an issue on grey days and in winter is more of a prob than cold ,wet etc
i have 2 rather poorly tripods which are no good for camera use but might make decent stands for the next two panels

their idea of arty flying is my idea of reject and learn
i do not know what they normally snap, but they need to put in some hours for birdies
tis a steep learning curve to get decent snaps of them, the sammisons i need to work on, but as they are usually twilight til twilight the lighting aspect is tricky cos they move fast
a colour night lens as good as my monochrome nightsight would be ace but probably daft expensive, big glass might do it but again prices
i might have a play trying to get the camera to use the nightsight with tubes and rubber bands etc as a low but high but low tech amusement
the red dot and sniper style cross hairs aspects might be fun but annoying after a bit, but i might be able to just use the IR tac light and the camera settings iirc it can do IR snaps(with no film in a cool box and with no courier booked to take it to Leeches for processing old style was difficult for IR)

Afraid I wasn't impressed by most of them. Yours are far better Dpack. Son tries to get pictures in the woods, and he has achieved one or two quite nice ones of perched birds. The buzzards keep teasing him by calling when they are above the canopy and he can't get a decent shot of them. He is sure they do it on purpose.

For the Sammisons, could you put some food out in a well lit spot and focus on it for shots when they come out to feed? That seems to be the way most people get shots of mice.

No, he isn't a climber and our trees aren't exactly easy as they are plantation and so fairly long and thin, even with judicious thinning over the years.

Yesterday was a butterfly day as very hot. Sadly they were very active, so it was a question of 'is it a ...' as it zoomed past. Think I may have seen a white admiral, and saw a lot of silver washed fritillaries, some newly hatched by the look of it, red admirals, gatekeepers/meadow browns (couldn't tell at a distance) and assorted whites.
