Can you check out

Parker's Price Guide (only really useful for establishing S/H value if the vehicle is new-ish, which LRs often aren't )

AutoTrader website, to do asking price comparisons

LandRover owner/enthusiast sites / forums (they must exist) - might be your best bet.

That is a lot! You can generally budget around £4K for a reasonable second-hand Defender, though if you want one pimped up with all the bling imaginable, then maybe you could stretch to £14K and get laughed at by every farmer you come across!.
Defenders can be got with air conditioning, fitted carpets, CD players, alloys, central locking and all sorts of add-ons, but to my mind they all detract from the purpose of the vehicle, and don't mask the fact that a Defender will always be noisier and slower than a normal car.
If you want a quieter, more comfortable vehicle, go for a Discovery (and, again, you'll get a good one for a lot less than £14K).
Defenders are tough, generally reliable, and the spares are cheap. Discos are also tough but more prone to rust on older models, and pricier to fix.
Whatever Land Rover you get, try to do as much of the work yourself, as the service intervals are less than most other vehicles, and you don't want to be pouring cash into the hands of your local dealer for labour charges (for example - garage price for changing a timing belt: £350. Cost of doing it yourself: £7.60). Because they're pretty basic, most of the maintenance is pretty simple, Mecanno-style stuff, and part of the fun of a Land Rover is getting to know how it's put together and fettling it yourself. They are addictive.
There are some good Land Rover forums around - check out:

I would get a late 300tdi model County spec station waggon, ISTR they ended on around a T plate (99) much better engine than the current TD5 and a really good one can be had for less than £10k, Shop around and you may get one around the £8k mark if you are really lucky

Good luck in your hunt - they're as rare as rocking horse cr*p round these parts.
As the man says, though, they've got the best engine ever fitted to a Land Rover (unless you've got unlimited funds and can afford to feed a V and haven't got all the electrickery that can go wrong on a TD5.

I would forget the disco. Probably the worst put together and most unreliable 4x4 ever made.

As Gil suggests, go to https://www.autotrader.co.uk

There you can put in your postcode and search Autotrader's current ads for the make and model vehicle of your choice.
Note that you can choose how far away to search...
Displaying by price from highest to lowest will show you the top asking prices...

If you want to search for specific versions or options, eg diesel, then you'll have to register - free and no fuss.

Its a fantastically useful site whether one is buying or thinking of selling.

How old is it, what's the mileage, what extra toys has it got, what engine is in it?.......14k is well overpriced unless it has something really special that you haven't told us.

We always used to get landies, then got a twin cab, far far better, our first was a vauxhall brava, they have stopped making them now, but ours is still in great nick, never ever had any major problems.
I treated myself to a mitsubishi animal just before xmas - 05 , May , 2,000 miles, black with all the toys, sat nav, mp3, loads of wonderful extras - no vat 16,000 inc a back and bedrug lining , all I had to do was shop around, took me 3 mnths to find, especially on a budget, but I saved a forune - well chuffed!!!! as for the brava, well its now been relagated to the dogmobile.
