It is from a german company (not particularly local, although it did come from a small independent wool shop) - the wool itself is called Opal and comes in loads of different colours

The company that make it are here https://www.sockenwolle.de/index2-eng.html

Hee, hee - they've got me knitting socks too! Only my effort doesn't look half as good as yours. What pattern are you using?

The one that the lady gave me in the wool shop . I have knitted before but never socks - just wandered into one of those lovely wool shops which look a complete mess and said I want to knit some socks - she gave me the wool and the needles and a pattern. I can reproduce it for you is you wish -

What is different from yours

Well for a start, your ribbing is SO much neater than mine - I think I did mine a bit loose, and also I messed up the ribbing at the beginning because I'd forgotten how to do it and was purling when I should have been knitting! Got the hang of it after a couple of rows, but the top of the ribbing now has an interesting knobbly effect!

Must just remember to do the second sock in the same way and then it will look deliberate!

Not sure who they are for - I am blindly following the pattern which says "to fit medium adult" - the other half has size 11 feet so probably not him and I have size 5 and a half feet, which are a bit on the small side. Just started the foot bit so will measure to mine I think and if they are a bit big I will use them as wellie socks

I am a little worried - I can see this sock thing becoming an addiction

The neat ribbing may have something to do with the needle size - my elderly next door neighbour who thinks it is absolutley amazing that I am knitting anything at all said she used to use bigger needles for socks

Bernie, that looks great and I LOVE the wool. My balls of wool are sitting on the shelf still looking at me - my excuse is that I haven't found any needles yet. But they are no. 1 thing to do after Christmas.

I found some 4mm double-ended needles in Oxafam Welshpool on Saturday. Would you like them? I now find I have 2 sets. By the way, who do I send a Pig Movement form to? It says local authority...
