It’s been quiet in here for a while. However, despite the weather (gales last night, hail today) spring is definitely here. On Sunday I got wild chives, three cornered leak, sorrel, a bit of wild garlic (3 weeks behind compared to recent years) and some Alexanders (way behind). Oyster mushrooms are out in force too – I picked just under 1.5kg – and there was a lot more on the way. I also noticed darkening rings on the grass. From previous years I know that these are St Georges mushrooms. Will have to wait and see if the come up this season.

Loads of crow garlic here, and wild chives, three cornered leek, alexanders, wild garlic in the garden (also late), sorrel just coming out of its winter sulk. Also seems to be some soft, lush growth of cow parsley and sweet cicely (in the one, top secret spot I have for it in Cambridge), and the chickweed is lush and green too.

I found lots of wild chives (or they garlic chives not sure), nettles for soup and goosegrass (cleavers). Picked up lots of i think it's cow parsley but really need help to identify if it's not nasty rough chervil which is dangerous as far as I understand
