There is a juniper bush here which is a bit rampant: taking over the garden.
There has never been any sign of berries on it either.

I am minded to get proper brutal with it and cut it back really hard, but I don't know if juniper is a thing that will die from that or not.

Other than brutality, any thoughts on getting it to fruit?
I did wonder if it was perhaps a male bush.

Never mind berries, just use a leafy sprig for cookery instead.

Well, I believe that it is dioecious, so either way it needs a bit of help....

Mist conifers only stand light pruning.
If you cut back into the brown wood they rarely regenerate.
I'm pretty sure that many of the garden varieties are sterile so maybe you have one of those.

So how do you distinguish the mist conifers from the other type?

I am aware that is-true of many conifers, but I am pretty sure the question is species dependant.

Ah yes. That could explain it.

Most junpers will recover from a hard prune, take it from a chainsaw-wielding maniac. Not all bear fruit however. Is it prostrate or fastigiate?
