I've got round to digging up the rest of the earlies - is it better to lift them and put them in a bag, or is it OK to remove all the greenery and leave them in the soil?

You can leave them, greenery and all, it just dies back but lifting them and storing them protects them from getting munched or rotted.

I think earlies are better for leaving in the soil, but that depends on your slug situation.

I leave earlies and dig as needed. Main crop gets lifted when the greenery dies off.
