Is this for eating on the go, or stopping and snacking.

One of our guests always has a tin of vegetable salad, and some crispbreads in their car and a bottle of water.

I once did fruit leathers and halfway through drying pressed a handful of mixed nuts and seeds into the leather. might make nuts a bit more convenient for eating while driving.
I was wondering about a savoury fruit leather - thinking about those yummy umeboshi (pickled plums you can buy from Japanese food stores...
not tried this but..
take plum puree ( nice and sour) add soy sauce and maybe a big blob of miso paste, mix it together adjust seasoning then make your leather. add seeds and nuts for extra nutrition?

Generally on the go... But now I come to think about it a good stash of properly nutritious snacks would be a good thing at home as well.

Oatcakes. One from shops perfectly nice, cheaper than bar sort of thingies, but not super-cheap or bake your own. But I do find that the amount of effort involved in rolling them out and cutting rounds, doesn't seem to be quite repaid by the volume of oatcake - not at the rate they get eaten anyway.

For sweet things - Biscotti. You do need to do the second dry in the oven that the recipes say. We do our own variants (recipes not yet written down) so rather than almond, we do roast mixed nuts, coconut with a hint of ginger and also ones with sesame seed. Can make them a bit less sweet than online recipes, do to taste. Only problem can be with the mixed nut ones is that they are really hard - as in better dunked or you might break your teeth.

You can make marmite flapjacks and they keep quite well. I've also made them by adding home made chutney. the vinegar content seems to preserve them!

Try them with onion chutney or something with a low fruit content. the fruity ones don't keep as well.
