We went to the beginning of the bat walk, whilst the barn dance was on...

Can anyone remember the name of the bats? (s....)

It was a bit damp(!) for foraging, so on Sunday Jamanda took us down a hole!

Interesting to see other places' ways of wall/bank building.

For those that were questioning the logic of purchasing teapot after tea cosy made, here is the original one that got stolen by our friends:

My new one is a skull & crossbones. Will take a picture soon.

ETA. If picture is not showing, I will edit tomorrow having difficulty connecting & cant post pics from mobile

OH Chelle says I only did the barn dance thing and missed the bat walk because I had too much cider.
I'm definitely not a big drinker and I hope someone will confirm I didn't have much!

Was that on purpose? My parents had part of their honeymoon there - I like it.

No, it was pretty random. But there was some talk of a DS party to Chagstock next year.

That would be lots of fun!

(I'll start priming Jack for another camping holiday...only a year to go...)

American Pancake recipe (c/o James Beard*)

Serves 2 and 2 halves.

1 cup of flour
1 tbs sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 pinch cinnamon
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch fresh vanilla
1 cup milk
1/8 cup oil (I used sunflower, but anything not strong tasting)
1 medium egg

1. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
2. Mix in all wet ingredients.
3. Heat a non-stick frying pan on stove. (Hot: 5-ish out of 6 on our leccy hob).
4. No need to add oil if using non-stick pan.
5. Pour in some blobs of mix.
6. Flip with spatula when the tops have stopped bubbling .
7. Cook till brown.
8. I keep the ones I've done in a warming tray and serve them all at once, add honey or creme fraiche, or butter or whatever.
9. Enjoy

(*Not Frank Beard as I was heard to say at the skill-share. Oh no, not him, because he'd be the drummer for ZZ Top, and possibly rubbish at pancakes. Just so we've got that clear. Good. Thanks.)

He's the only member of ZZ Top who doesn't have a beard.

I expect he shaved it off because it made making pancakes insanitary.

Ah, Serotine, thank you! I was trying to remember the name when I was telling Pete about the bat walk - I knew it began with an 'S'...

They do a bit. Leo was very impressed with Buzzy's bat hearer.

(So was I)

He was so impressed that he remembered that when the clicks come close together it means the bats are feeding. All in all, he thinks The Bat Man is pretty fab
