I've dealt with them for years and the delivery drivers say they are very good employers so there are 2 side to every story. If anyone is still interested let me know.

Is that really any much worse than any of the capitalist cults that run almost everything else?

That's true, but I would avoid Nestle and the like just as much anyway. And also I'm really not a fan of fundamentalist Christians.

I should think they are...

I'm not sure about everything else, but I reckon having a sensible attitude to management's wages makes up for the trivial bit of baby eating they are alleged to indulge in.

What are the prices like?

Curious.
Have you heard wrong, do they pay everyone low wages or is the website misleading?

i guess they get the housing costs knocked off.

i know several of the drivers well and they have been there a long time, bad businesses usually turn over staff fast.

There are other places you can use instead who also have a co operative structure but without the Christian thing. I use Infinity in Brighton who I can highly recommend and there is also Suma, who are up north somewhere, Leeds or Halifax or something.

Can an individual get supplies from Suma? (They're in Halifax, by the way). I thought they were just wholesalers, who supply the trade, or have I got that wrong?

Yes, under certain circumstances which I'm not exactly sure what they are. We order from them but then we place quite large orders.

Edit to add, I think this is the key bit on their new customer registration:

"Please be aware that Suma reserve the right to refuse an account if it conflicts with other Suma Customers."

No there is no religious connection. they are connected with St andrews where they treat peolple with emotional problems. The are a large shop rather than a wholesaler but they have a good reputation.

Thank's for clarifying that, I used to go there years ago before we moved to France, I still like to pop in when I get the chance to get back.

Daily Bread are excellent - but the only connection they have with St Andrew's is that they share a site......

I always stock up when I visit Northampton.
