the hay is finally made and in the barn. Every year the nailbiting gets worse, this year the meadow didn't get cut until September! Norman, the old boy who lives in the village and helps with the baling, says that in the olden days it often wasn't cut till now but I wonder what the nutritional value of the forage produced is
Have to say it looks and smells nice, and local small bales are six pounds each!
At least I got a few more bales than last year. Last year I only got 1100 bales off 25 acres, this year we got the same amount but from a smaller area, as the land owner had arranged with Natural England for some hay to go to them as they want to use it as a sort of seed infested top dressing for some water meadows a bit further downstream.
