5 years old now, none of the original French plantings (Ferragne, Ferraduel, Lauranne, Mandaline) have flowered yet and they've all experienced huge dieback. The dieback looks like it's cold related rather than canker induced.

Robijn
Has set fruit again but the trees look peaky this year and have experienced plenty of dieback. As mentioned previously this is a peach/almond cross and the nuts are (contrary to nursery descriptions) neither sweet nor soft shelled and the kernels can in no way be described as large (I counted 960 dry kernels to the pound)

Ingrid
Our 2 two year old trees have set a couple of fruit this year, another peach/almond cross, hopefully sweeter than Robijn

Ardechoise
Our 2 yr old trees have flowered but not set, this is definitely what I'm pinning my hopes on, a good sweet nut with thin shells and large kernel. If this fruits next year I'll probably grub up the rest of my French cultivars and replace with this

Dunno how Martin can sell those French almonds as fruiting cultivars, still nuffink. Only one that's set is again Robijn.

I don't quite know how it might work, but at 5 five years, yor almonds have only known pretty poor summers (I seem to remember that the last hot one was 2006). Could it be that they haven't ever had enough heat to really get them going (ripen up this year's wood for next year, etc.)?

Possibly, but we're in pretty much the the driest sunniest county in England, the trees are at least 15 ft high. Dunno. I'm not pulling em up yet.

I have had similar problems (no flowers) with a Nonpareil variety, and some varieties from southern Germany.

But my local backgarden unbranded variety, as well as Robijn and Ingrid are fruiting very well. Some definitely have not got much in the way of leaves on them. I put that down to the drought, before the flooding of 2 weeks ago.
