is the plastic thing a quilting foot?

Golly this brings back memories, some of these look familiar like pleating and ruffling and hemming attachments, this is when I wish my mother wasn't dead she'd know them off by heart I have a box full of them somewhere.

Circle thing with a spring is almost certainly a darning foot. That's what I use for free-motion quilting. No good for straight lines and quilting in the ditch and suchlike, but great for squiggling.

It's what I'd use on my 221k - it is a darning foot, but the one identified in the old manuals for what we would call free motion work today

The "Quilting foot" is just a regular one with a metal support extending out to the rh side and a small piece of metal then coming down which can be slid along to ensure that you stay the same distance from the last row of stitches ....

There is another type of darning foot too - but by the sounds of it the one you have Lorraine is the one you want

I think you are all very patient, my random patchwork skirt really tested my (lack of) skill, patience and ability to complete a project.
