I have just started the victorian wrist warmers that I have a pattern for. The size of both the hook and the weight of the yarn is accurate.
However, the initial chain that needs to be worked into the round seems huge.
Should I just carry on regardless?

Are they worked from the wrist up or knuckle down?

There is not I am thinking of dropping down a couple of sizes in hook. (It will only be a uk size 1 then though) teeny tiny crochet. ah well, my own fault for liking victorian lace

have you seen if anyone on Ravelry has made the same pattern, you might find observations about fit in their notes?

this one then? https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweetheart-wrist-warmers-2/people
Have a look at it as made by real people in different yarns, see if any of the comments help with the sizing

this is what Ravelry is particularly useful for, seeing how patterns look when made by different people using different yarns Can make all the difference when stuck or unsure about fit

there are one or too references to scaling down a hook size. So that is what I will do. So far we are going for a sort of pistachio and baby pink.
