Looks quite interesting - I lke the idea of splitting logs with gunpowder!

We will watch this and see if there are any ideas we could utilise, but Penny, I have to agree with your point...... He can build it, but cant sleep/live in it.

A bit disappointing apart from the log splitting. I can't see most people collecting a mix of poo and restaurant fat from the nearest sewer to fuel their lamps! He has an interesting side kick tho' who can do anything and makes the chassis to ensure his hut is moveable - I expect he'll be in a series of his own soon, knowing TVs delight in "characters", eg. Hairy Bikers etc.

I like the idea of using sewer fat to make bio-diesel. Mind you, I'm not sure how green it would be in terms of carbon miles by the time he's travelled from Somerset to London to collect the fat, taken it to Bristol for processing and then back to Somerset...

they made rabbit glue. Stick the furs in man-wee for 24 hours, scrape the fur off, simmer in water for 2 days, strain & dry. Resulting leathery bits can then be dissolved into a paste & make a very strong glue (it held the weight of Kevin & a large fellow with great ginger sideburns). That's the only bit I saw.

Not being able to build how and what we wanted was one of the reasons we left the UK. Shows like this create interest and maybe inspire some people, but the reality of being "allowed" to do it is somewhat different. (Unless you are famous of course).

I found it rather turgid. I've noticed that so many TV series use the same format, River Cottage, Hungry Sailors, Jimmy's Farm, Guy's boat etc where there are almost a magazine show with various exeprts doing or helping to do stuff.

Asides of the rabbit glue, which genuinely fascinated me and the glass making which most of us don't get to see every day, I felt it had little to recommend it, which is a great shame as I am a fan of Kevin Mcleod's Grand Designs.
