BA and I ordered the new washing machine on Monday. They state that they will ring you with delivery time within 3 days. We had heard nothing so this morning I rang them to see if they had any info.
I was put on hold and eventually the lad came back to tell me the washing machine we had ordered was out of stock and they had no idea when it would be back in stock. Would I like a refund or would I like to wait? I asked how long I would have to wait to be told the had "no idea".
I passed the call over to a rather irritated BA. Who was then told it would take 3-5 days to credit my account. when questioned as to why they took the money for an item that is out of stock immediately yet it took 3-5 days to refund.
When asked why they were continuing to sell an item they did not have in stock the lad also had "no idea"

We are not happy customers and will never be going there again!

Compare and contrast..

Called the co-op, ordered the machine and was told it would be here tomorrow. We have had the confirmation e-mail already and they were a pleasure to deal with. They are also recycling the old machine (£10).

You would think we would have known better really....

You'll never do that, it's like telling them to not pick at a scab...

I've surprised myself in sticking with my own little Tesco boycott.

For direct electricals I've used co-op and they would be my first stop next time, they were reasonable and good to deal with. For some reason they don't always seem to crop up when you do a search.

Tesco direct seem to have had some problems recently. They were very good, possibly too helpful a few years ago. But recently they were impossible to deal with so I'll not use them again.

One thing, email them and keep chasing as you are likely to get something out of them. I'd write a simple email and ask for something like £40 in vouchers for the inconvenience, chase every few days if you can be bothered.

Another vote for the co-op for white goods here. Apart from anything else they're actually capable of finding our house rather than claiming that they tried to deliver but we were out.

The Coop were a delight to deal with. To be fair to the Tescos chappie he was very apologetic, and of course it's not his fault. But that didn't stop me having a moan at him.

Just to be different, can I recommend Marks and Spencer's home delivery for electricals?
I got my washer and dishwasher from them last year and the service was superb, daily updates and a phone call when they left the warehouse - and a call to apologise when they got stuck behind an RTC a mile from us, and they took away the old units for free (driver's perk I hope).
Oh, and when I lost the receipt they e-mailed a copy within the hour and a hard copy arrived next day.

We use a little local shop. Very helpful and delivery slots to the hour can be arranged, even to time in with my shifts! Other than that John Lewis because we ARE middle class!

Are they giving you £10, or you they?
Last time I delivered a washing machine, there was someone banging on the door for the old one before I'd even finished the plumbing.
