Does anyone have a recipe for homemade dog food? I am trying to change my chihuahua's diet to one that doesn't come out of a bag, a bit more healthy, without all the dyes and fillers.

I know many foods are not acceptable for a dog diet, and I was wondering if anyone had a recipe that was tried and true. I've googled several times, and found interesting recipes.

I'm just trying to be a bit more concerned as a fur mom.

Generally home made dog food don't have to be anything fancy. Some cooked carbohydrate source like potato/rice/wheat or barley..some veg; carrots, peas, broccoli ...and some protein=meat
If you have access to seaweed meal..pinch of that would add some good minerals.
Now don't that sound more and less what we humans eat?..so, suitable dog food is not that far off..just leave salt, spices and fatty cuts out.
There is lot of other veg you can add to dog's diet..depending what your's is willing to eat.
My dog eats commercial food and home food 'combo' with few treats in form of chews and raw veg and fruit.
Its just keeping eye on the portion size as home made is often much more appealing to them and they will eat it as much as you are willing to give them...

Would you consider raw/"barf" feeding?

hi, I use a mixture of tripe heart mince and biscuits, sometimes pasta but when I had a poorly dog, I was so surprised at what the vet suggested it was tin food that has been around for many years, one of the cheapest, its called Chappie.gemini
