Bought the other day ... reduced in Morrisons and we both thought they were pretty vile in the raw.

Does anyone have an exciting recipes, other than Pecan Pie that uses fresh pecans, I guess I could wizz them up into a nut loaf mixture.

Or would simply toasting them make them less inedible.

When you say disgusting have they gone rancid? If so nothing will make them taste any better

No, they're in perfect condition, well within their sell by date, end Feb - they just dry our mouths out, as some other nuts do, when we eat them.

Shell them out. Make sure the bitter membrane is removed, of course.

Chop them up and use the same as your walnuts. Add them to cookies, or in jello with fruits. Mix into banana bread, or in brownies.

I have seen recipes (but do not have one) that adds them to stuffing.

Do you all make a fresh broccoli salad with golden raisins, manoyase and nuts? Mmmm.

This past holiday a family member cooked brussel sprouts, added cooked cranberries and nuts. That was a hit too.

You could pickle them then use them in salads

Dad used to love pickled walnuts and mouldy cheese tossed in salad.

I toasted the shelled nuts in a tiny bit of olive oil and sea salt and threw a few toasted sunflower seeds in too.

I also mixed a bit of white wine vinegar into the mayo.

Had forgotten how good raw broccoli is.
