They do have many bizarre regs. In most places drying your washing on a line is prohibited and you are expected to use a tumble dryer. This came about due to popular demand as it was seen as working class and affected property values. Mind you I've got mates in California and it's a regulation in their town that everyone has to grow a tree in their front garden to provide shade.

Thats ridiculous! The drying thing i mean. Tree things not so bad. Just annoys me though how they come out with these things and its generally for their benefit. Our rights to live are taken from us more and more. Call me crazy. Im used to it
It would be interesting to know all the facts of the case.
The article blowtop referred in the opening post was published in 2010, and the Oregon law dates back to 1925. The chap in the article linked above was apparently jailed for 30 days in August 2012.
I eagerly await the breaking news from over the puddle that in the as yet undiscovered and unamed and unknown 59th state in an incredible story yet to be completed yet credibly sourced and with no confirmation at this stage as to whether or not it has or has not been confirmed or not not and with that a lack of substantiation as to its substantiveness that someone somewhere may or may not have been charged for littering as the air they breathed in and exhaled was not taken home and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner but was allowed to in the atmosphere to pollute it.
No doubt that person may have been a serial offender in that they allowed the rubber from their pick up truck tyres to litter the freeway, in that when they started their journey the tyres had more tread than when they finished their journey: ergo they must have left rubber on the freeway.
And someone will probably believe it and protest about it, fervently.
