The BBC has this article predicting a good year for top fruit.

There has not been a hard frost during the last few weeks here in Wharfedale - so Damson, Pear, Cherry and Apple blossom have not been damaged. Of course there's still time for the weather to turn nasty and knock off even pollinated flowers. But hope springs eternal.

After last years dire spring we had a tiny harvest of fruit. How is yours going so far?

Blossom is looking good but then it did last year too.... until we had gale force winds.

Just had a quick look. Its too early to tell. Damson and pears, looks like a reasonable amount of flower has set, way short of 100%, at this stage it appears that I may not have to thin the fruit this year. Apples: the petals are only just starting to fall. However, the bush fruit (Ribes species) are looking really good.

I've several red currant bushes and they are looking good too (maybe I shouldn't have said that?).

Blossom on our Bardsey apple is a huge puff of pale pink. Normally there are a just handful of flowers. EV

Just a quick photo of my Bardsey apple, just covered in large flowers. My apple orchard is masses of flowers. Plums all finished flowering. All we do now is wait for the June drop.

Wonderful apple blossom but a few surprises, nothing on a Blenheim and a Bramley that are usually reliable. Very little plum or pear blossom and they're slow coming into leaf. My favourites are the quinces, so pretty! Orange Pippin website have a facility for entering information about your fruit trees, growth, crop and flowering dates.

Great blossom on apples including Bramley, but bugger all on pears + plums + gages. Cherry not too bad either.

The apples I pruned heavily winter before last are flowering well, as are the cherries in the wood. English Quince has come into flower and is really lovely at the moment. Lost some cherry blossom in the woods to wind, but hoping the cherries set first.

Just a run down on all of my fruit and nuts

Apples, Pear, Plum, Cherry – Best flowering season and looks like the best set. Makes up for last year where there was nothing of anything at all. Most cider apple varieties no leaves and just breaking flower buds. Mirabelle plum has no flowers at all.

Peach, Apricot, Nectarine – Very sparse.

Almonds – Absolutely nothing.

Walnuts, Sweet Chestnut, Quince – Just flowering so should be a bumper crop.

I'd been thinking of posting the same question! Our apple blossom has been fantastic, with more on an old Russet than we've ever seen. Pear and plum, well, better than last year! Loots to be a good set on both. Currants all good too - the only fruit looking disappointing is our elderly goosegogs for the first time ever, but that may be the age of the bushes.

Lots of flowers were on our apples, plums, crab apples, cherries, pears and our soft fruits too. Wind has I notice knocked quite a few about today, but hopefully damage not too bad. Looks much better than it did last year for sure.

Just need to make sure I keep the geese away from everything, and net the soft fruit from the local wildlife...
Even the strawberries are flowering and looking hopeful we will get more than a bowl ful...
