I'd like to collate experiences with file sharing apps for the desktop. My primary requirements is to be able to share files with myself (on various Internet connected devices) and other people with granular permissions (grant read/edit rights on folders and individual files).

So far Dropbox remains my favourite. Synchronisation is fast and the desktop app is intuitive, informative, and easy to use. I can easily set share permissions on both file and folders. The downside is that lack of space available (2GB) before you need to start paying although this can be increased through a referral (up to 18GB) and reward schemes.

Skydrive provides a more generous amount of disk space with 25GB available and uploads are reasonably fast. However, downloads are very slow and shared synchronisation only works when using the web interface, the desktop app does not support this feature. It's less intuitive to use than Dropbox.

Google drive: I'm testing this at the moment. Initial impression is less user friendly than Dropbox and doesn't provide much in the way of feedback to what it's doing. Disk space is a generous 15GB.

What is your favourite?

I love Dropbox and agree with your reviews of the others - Google drive is very resource intensive as well

i use dropbox and google drive for differnt reasons.

Google Drives main benefits are the document viewing, editing and conversion capabilities - esp when used with android phone.
Its also nice to be able to share a spreadsheet with several people (eg booking for an event) and everyone edit it. Drive handles that sort of stuff well. - if also integrates weel with gmail for just dragging in docs you want to email to someone.

Howevers sycing folder across computers - sharing videos ect I prefer dropbox!

My music is all on the google music thingummy so i get that everywhere

Tresorit and Box also have their advantages !

I too have both Google Drive and Dropbox.

Like Mark has said, Google is good for me on my tablet and phone, though Dropbox does also work on both.

Sharing I have found that they are both about the same, as in easy to do. What I like about Google (and probably because I'm an Androider) is things like uploading ebooks, which I can then link to my Google Play account.

For me and how I use things, I think Google just wins it.

Box.net is brilliant, and does exactly what you want. However, it is not free.
