If they are fruiting now are the summer or autumn?

And what about pruning?

And now I have a nursery bed, can I take cuttings of roses now (ramblers)

Think it depends upon when they started. If they have been fruiting for some time, they are probably summer, if just started, probably autumn. If you know the name of the variety, you can look up what they are supposed to be.

Summer fruiting ones should be cut after fruiting and the new ones left to grow on. Think the autumn fruited ones are pruned in the spring, but can't remember for sure.

The wild raspberries in the woods are still just about fruiting. I picked a few of them yesterday with the blackberries.

They have had some fruit earlier but the blackbirds had them. Im going to collect some today and then see whats to be done. Its a very overgrown (and now spreading) bed of rasps.

The summer ones seems to be a bit confused here, they've been fruiting for about 2 months ...one early flush of large fruits and a continuous supply of smaller ones.

However, they've also put out new growth which has reached about 8', flowered and been pollinated. There are small proto-fruits on these shoots now.

I'm cutting back the summer ones which fruited heavily earlier just to see what happens.

The autumn fruiters also fruited about a month ago, so not sure what's going on there. I'm half-wondering if there's been some cross-pollination going on?

Having said that, my neighbour was saying that here magnolia is about to flower for the 2nd time this year, so I think weather has a lot to do with it.

I'm doing a lot more gardening by eye and instinct than by the book these days.

my summer ones have finished. I would have assumed you have autumn ones.

autumn rasps will fruit twice if not cut right down.

Very true, once on the previous years canes, earlier than they would and then again on new seasons growth.

The answer may be in whether you have canes with a lack of fruit. Theoretically, if they are Autumn Rasps then all your canes will have either gone over or have fruit/fruitlets on them.

If they are summer there will probably be a lot of new canes with no fruit on them. Probably easier to tell if you've got new season growth which hasn't fruited in a few weeks though.
