Does anyone know of a way to unlink an IPhone from a certain Apple ID ? It is not accepting the password and Apple can't find any record of the ID that it is locked to - it is showing an old ID of mine that no longer exists and I don't have access to the email address that it show either......

I have reset to factory settings but, due to find my IPhone, I am unable to restore without this password.

The phone isn't stolen but one that I have purchased from work at a very good price (although I think I may be returning it soon).

Take it to a real Apple Store, with a Genius Bar. They may be able to help, if you can provide proof of ownership.

Otherwise, unless you're on iOS 7, it's a useless brick, I think.

Thanks Nick...the guys in the apple store said that they can't do anything, only Apple tech support can unlock it and it turns out that they can't with this one.

What iOS are you on? See if you can hack it to 7 (iTunes will not help here) and remove Find My iPhone.

It was 8.1 (I think).

It must be fatal because even the dodgy guy on the market stall declined to offer his services

Yeah, it's their anti theft system. It works very well, unless you haven't nicked the phone. Can work offer you proof of ownership? Presumably they bought it via a telecoms supplier and they'll be able to offer proof.

Otherwise, can you return it to them?

I have the proof of ownership but this doesn't seem to hold any weight with Apple at the moment.....I haven't actually handed over the cash to my employer yet so I may just ' change my mind' over the purchase.

Did you go to a real Apple store? Not one of their badged resellers? One with a Genius bar, and everything?

eg, Stormfront in Newbury are not one.

I went to the one in Festival Place, Basingstoke which does have the genius bar...apparently.

Tahir, The apple ID that it is locked to is an old ID of mine that has been changed but the Phone doesn't accept the new ID or password and Apple have confirmed that the old ID is no longer a valid ID.

Anyone want to buy a 36Gb IPhone 5 with one careful, owner
